Allstate Steel Company Inc. wins $1.6 million structural steel supply contract for new UF chemistry building

The Allstate Steel Company Inc. of Jacksonville has won a $1.6 million contract to supply structural steel for the new chemistry/chemical biology building at the University of Florida in Gainesville.

The five-story building at the corner of University Avenue and Buckman Drive will have more than 111,000 square feet, Allstate said in a news release. Skanska is the general contractor and Burt, Hill is the architect.

The building will provide “state-of-the-art research facilities for faculty and graduate students working in the areas of chemical biology and chemical synthesis” as well as classrooms for undergraduates, the UF chemistry department website says.

Allstate also won a $1.4 million contract to supply structural steel for the University Crossing Skilled Nursing Facility on Brooks Rehabilitation’s main campus in Jacksonville.
