19 November 2015

The state of the steel industry has caused Warren Steel Holdings to go on a temporary shutdown.

The producer and supplier of carbon and alloy steel products, 4000 Mahoning Ave., recently informed employees about the shutdown.

The company will idle production on or before Nov. 30. The company expects production to come back sometime in the first quarter of 2016, according to a letter sent out to employees.

The company said most of the workers at the plant will be laid off. A United Steel Workers representative said there are about 150 who work at the plant.

The company’s engineered products are used in a variety of different industries, including aerospace, mining, construction, automotive and agriculture, according to its website.
