Mr. Marcelo Botelho will become President and Chief Executive Officer of California Steel Industries, Inc. (CSI) effective August 1, 2016, replacing Mr. Toshiyuki ("Ted") Tamai, who is retiring after 43 years in the steel industry in Japan and the United States.

The Company also announced a new Chairman of the Board of Directors and a new Executive Vice President, Operations, also effective August 1.

Mr. Botelho joined Vale S. A. in 2010, where he most recently served as Controller Global Director. He has also held positions in the utility, aerospace, and aluminum industries in Brazil. He graduated from the Universidade Federal Fluminense with a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, from the Pontificia Universidade Católica with a Master's degree in Production Engineering, and earned his MBA from the Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro.

Mr. Tamai joined CSI in 1995, and was appointed President and Chief Executive Officer in 2012. Prior to joining CSI, he worked at AK Steel, (Ohio) and has been associated with JFE Steel Corporation (JFE) and its predecessor, Kawasaki Steel Corporation, since 1973.

The new Chairman of the Board is Mr. Tadaaki Yamaguchi, replacing Mr. Pedro Rodrigues, who will continue to serve as a member of the Board. Mr. Yamaguchi currently serves as the President of JFE Steel America, Inc., located in New York. He joined JFE in 1990, holding positions in their planning and commercial departments, including serving as the Assistant to the President at CSI for three years. He earned his Master's Degree in Business Administration from Vanderbilt University.

The new Executive Vice President, Operations, is Mr. Scott Starr, assuming responsibility for all operations at CSI's Fontana, California facility.  Mr. Starr joined CSI in 1992, where he most recently served as General Manager, Operations.  He graduated from University of California, Irvine with a Master's Degree in Business Administration and from the University of Pittsburgh with a Bachelor of Science degree in Metallurgical Engineering.

Mr. Starr succeeds Mr. Harold ("Harry") Allin, who is retiring after 47 years in the steel industry. Mr. Allin worked at CSI for 17 years, and previously worked at Gallatin Steel (Kentucky) and Dofasco Steel (Ontario, Canada).

CSI's two shareholders are Vale S.A. (Vale); and JFE Steel Corporation (JFE) of Japan.  Each shareholder owns 50% of the shares of CSI.  The leadership changes follow a longstanding practice where one shareholder company has appointed the CEO and the other the Chairman of the Board position, and then vice versa upon the next rotation.
