These are the words of Middlesbrough South and East Cleveland MP Luke Myer who is backing our ‘Save Steel, Buy British’ campaign with Community Union.

British-made steel plays a critical role in national life, and so we’re calling on UK industry to pledge its support for the sector. 
 
Every tonne of UK steel purchased supports high-skilled jobs, strengthens the industry’s supply chain, and helps communities thrive.

Luke, pictured centre at our new £26-million Skinningrove Service Centre, said: “I’m delighted that Community Union and British Steel have launched this campaign to Buy British, Build British. We cannot unleash economic growth without protecting our strategic steel industry.

“As a proud MP for a steel constituency, I’ll be doing all I can to encourage local and national industry to get onboard.”
