British Steel highlights innovation at Rail Live 2024

28 June 2024

Our rail team has showcased our products and services at Rail Live, Britain’s largest and only immersive rail exhibition.

The event took place at Porterbrook's Long Marston Rail Innovation Centre in Warwickshire and saw thousands of rail professionals explore the latest innovations in the sector.

We showcased our premium rail products and services as well as discussed how we are helping our customers with their sustainability targets.

Caroleann Harrison, British Steel’s Commercial Manager Rail – UK and Ireland, said: “Rail Live is always a great opportunity to demonstrate our products and services while exploring the latest advances in our industry.

“We had a section of rail on display and were able to highlight the importance of innovation by again demonstrating the high performance of premium products like Zinoco® which extends the life of the rail in corrosive conditions – a major benefit to the industry."

Stephen Lewis, British Steel’s Rail Technologies Manager, said: “Zinoco® has a coating which is a zinc-rich alloy developed from our existing protective coatings but with improved durability, winning approval from Network Rail in 2018 and further enhanced in 2019.

“We were also able to talk about the £10-million rail storage facility that is currently being built on our Scunthorpe site, and which is scheduled to open this summer.”
