5 July 2024

Rio Tinto Mongolia has built a green park on 10.2 hectares of public land in the west wing of the 58-year-old Children's Park. The design of the park is characterized by incorporating more than 10,000 suggestions from the citizens of the capital.

As part of the development,
comprehensive landscaping such as an open-air green theater, children's playground, community chairs, shade, self-healing irrigation system, and a pond were carried out. In this way, green space accessible to everyone is increasing in the capital city.

In this regard, the CEO of Rio Tinto Mongolia LLC, H. Amarjargal, said, "We are fully responsible for the management of this project, and we hope that by successfully implementing it, it has become a standard work to support the cooperation and sustainable development of the public and private sectors. "Rio Tinto is confident that the creation of this green facility will contribute to the green development of the capital city, where more than half of Mongolia's population lives, improve the quality of life, and have a positive impact on the health and social well-being of citizens in the long term."

In this regard, the capital's governor and the mayor of Ulaanbaatar, H. Nyambaatar, said, "In recent years, more attention has been paid to developing the cities of the world into friendly and green cities for their residents. Mongolia and its capital Ulaanbaatar are also paying attention in this direction. I would like to thank the Rio Tinto Mongolia team for increasing the green space of Ulaanbaatar city and making a valuable contribution to its sustainable development. "Congratulations to everyone who protected the public space and created the park together."

Rio Tinto Mongolia will take over the management of the park for another 2 years and hand it over to the city administration from 2026.
