Introduction:

JSW Steel USA, Inc., a subsidiary of JSW Steel Ltd., is set to invest $110 million to modernize its steel plate mill in Baytown, Texas. This upgrade will incorporate sustainable technology and state-of-the-art equipment, enhancing manufacturing capabilities.

Features:

These investments aim to produce high-quality monopile steel plates, crucial for supporting the U.S. Administration’s initiative to expand offshore wind energy, targeting 30 gigawatts (GW) by 2030. This amount of clean energy could power approximately 10 million homes. The steel products manufactured through these enhancements will meet Buy America requirements, particularly for specialized grades used in applications such as hydrocarbon pipelines, offshore wind towers, offshore platforms, high-density pressure vessels, and monopile steel plates.

JSW Steel USA has been a proactive supporter of the Department of Energy’s emission reduction goals and welcomes recent U.S. Administration efforts to promote investments in decarbonizing the iron and steel industry. These planned investments will bolster domestic manufacturing capabilities, focusing on renewable energy and infrastructure sectors. Furthermore, JSW USA aims to expand its "Made In USA" product range by sourcing American-made steel slabs from its Mingo Junction, Ohio production facilities.
