Viega, a leading industry expert in press technology for metal pipe fittings and valves, has unveiled plans to construct a new manufacturing facility dedicated to its ProPress® and MegaPress® product lines in Shalersville, Ohio. The announcement was made by Markus Brettschneider, President and CEO of Viega LLC.

This new facility in Ohio, along with recent investments in our existing Kansas facility, further supports our growing demand and is part of Viega's plan to increase North American production. This significant development in Shalersville, Ohio, covering an 80-acre parcel and the construction of a state-of-the-art plant, represents an investment of approximately $200 million in the state. As Viega's business continues to thrive in the United States, the new facility will help meet the rising demand for Viega products. Importantly, this aligns with the company's sustainability objectives, including reducing carbon emissions associated with product imports by manufacturing more items in the U.S. The new facility is set to be entirely carbon neutral right from its inception, in line with Viega's ambitious long-term goal to achieve net-zero carbon emissions for all their plants by 2035.

Marki Huston, Head of Manufacturing for Viega LLC, emphasized the company's commitment to generating highly skilled jobs in the U.S. and fostering sustainable manufacturing practices. Production is scheduled to commence in early 2025, with hiring for positions expected to begin as early as January 2024, ultimately creating over 68 new jobs in the region over the next few years.

Viega has recently announced investments in new equipment for its existing manufacturing and distribution facility in McPherson, Kansas. Additionally, Viega supports its customers and partners through distribution centers located in Reno, Nevada, and Carlisle, Pennsylvania, with further expansion across North America slated for 2024 and 2025.

Throughout the project, Viega collaborated closely with local, regional, and state organizations, including Team NEO, JobsOhio, Portage Development Board, and the Shalersville-Streetsboro Joint Economic Development District, which provided assistance with tax credits and site selection.
