This group of materials, Nickel Alloys, Cobalt Alloys, Special Alloys and Super Alloys is primarily used in extremely high temperature and/or corrosive environments, such as jet engines, power generation applications, chemical plants, and oil rigs. Typically, nickel alloys or cobalt alloys are used in environments where the use temperatures are in access of 1000 degrees F.

Due to their chemical compositions, materials tend to be quite expensive, with long lead times from the mills. Steel service centers tend not carry large inventories of expensive materials, sometimes making it difficult to obtain, particularly in immediate repair situations.

Some of the more well-known trademarked alloys include Inconel®, Hastelloy®, Monel®, Nitronic®, CBS600, Haynes 188®, L605®, and Rene 41®. These also tend to be price volatile with the longest mill lead times, as much as 52 weeks or more.

FORGINGS MADE FROM NICKEL, COBALT & SUPER ALLOYS

Nickel, cobalt and super alloy forgings are used for parts and components that must withstand harsh environments. Super alloys exhibit high heat resistance, corrosion resistance and acid resistance, coupled with wearability. They are ideal materials for parts and components used for pumps, valves, piping systems, process equipment, turbines and assemblies in the marine, chemical processing, oil and gas, aerospace and military industries.

All Metals & Forge Group maintains a full inventory of nickel, cobalt and super alloys for use in our open die forgings, including seamless rolled rings, discs, hubs, blocks, shafts, flanges and other forged shapes that can be machined into finished parts. We manufacture custom tool steel forgings to meet ASTM, AMS, ASME B16.47, NACE or corporate specifications, including odd sizes and custom lengths. Custom chemistry material can be melted to your non-standard alloy specifications to meet the needs of your application.

FORGING CAPABILITIES

Our capabilities include prototypes or one-offs, small runs, full production quantities and just-in-time inventory supply for long term contracts. Some of the products we forge and processes we use for nickel, cobalt and super alloy forgings include:

Flat bar blocks up to 27” width and 15,000 lbs.

Cylinders and sleeves up to 50” maximum O.D. and 65” maximum length

Discs and hubs up to 50” diameter and 20,000 lbs.

Rolled, hand forged or mandrel forged rings up to 84” maximum O.D. and 40” maximum length

Rounds, shafts and step shafts up to 144” maximum length and 20,000 lbs.

Forged-in steps or contours to reduce finish machining time and material waste

Quenching and tempering, normalizing, or annealing of forgings

We offer value-added services, including rough machining, heat treating, cutting, machining, rolling and welding to ensure that your finished product is delivered to you ready for finish machining. All forgings are rough machined to your forging print and include mill test reports (MTRs), reports on mechanical and physical properties, and ultrasonic, X-ray and non-destructive testing (NDT) reports as ordered or specified.

All Metals & Forge Group is ISO registered and provides 100% inspection and reporting on each forging delivered to its customers so you can be assured that 100% of your parts are manufactured and tested to the highest quality standards.
