What are Gearboxes?
A gearbox is a mechanical driver that utilizes gears to transfer the movement of a motor or PTO to its matched machine or implement. Gearboxes can either increase or decrease the speed of the input drive shaft and/or change the direction of the drive.
Types of Industrial Gearboxes:
Helical Gearbox
Coaxial Helical Inline
Bevel Helical Gearbox
Skew Bevel Helical Gearbox
Worm Gearbox
How gearbox works
Inside of a gearbox, the counter shaft is mashed to the clutch with a use of of gears. The counter shaft is always in running state. When the counter shaft is in contact with the main shaft by use of meshing gears, the main shaft starts to rotate according to the gear ratio. When driver changes the gear, clutch pedal disconnects the counter shaft with engine and connect the main shaft with counter shaft by another gear ratio by use of gearshift lever.
Gear box’ gear teeth and other moving metal can not touch. They must be continuously separated by a thin film of lubricant. This prevents excessive wear and early failure. Therefor a gearbox runs partially filled with lubricant oil.
