Introduction:

NS-Siam United Steel Co., Ltd. (NS-SUS), a consolidated subsidiary of Nippon Steel Corporation, has announced plans to invest approximately THB 2 billion (equivalent to JPY 8.9 billion) to expand the capacity of its electric plating line (EPL).

Features:

This strategic investment is aimed at responding to increasing customer demand—particularly from can manufacturers—for tinplate steel used in packaging containers. Thailand serves as a key export hub for food cans, with a highly concentrated industry presence. The domestic and global demand for container-grade tinplate steel is expected to grow steadily in the coming years.

To support this market expansion and enhance local production capabilities, NS-SUS has committed to increasing its tinplate steel production capacity from the current 280,000 tons per year to 350,000 tons per year. The capital investment is scheduled for completion by March 2027. This initiative underscores NS-SUS’s commitment to strengthening the tinplate supply chain in Thailand and promoting long-term industrial development in the region.
