Oman-based Sun Metals LLC is investing around $400 million to set up a world-class steel plant in Sur Industrial Estate in Sharqiyah North Governorate.

The heart of Sun Metal's steel mill project is a steel melt shop consisting of electric arc furnace, ladle refining furnace, and vacuum degasser, continuous casting, rolling mill, bar mill, and ingot technological facilities. It will also have equipment that will convert liquid steel into finished products, such as billets (including round billet) and re-bar/round bar.
