AboutWestbury Control Systems Ltd

Profile Background

Formed in 1999, and independently owned, Westbury Control Systems was initially setup and led by its managing director, Glynn Westbury, to serve as a manufacturer of control panels for a globally operating customer from the quarry and mining sector.

By 2002 an engineering team was established to offer software and control systems development, whilst supporting the core manufacturing, and day-to-day business.

Since then Westbury has enjoyed subsequent years of growth, development and expansion, which has included an ambitious move to its current facilities in Leicestershire. It has gained multi accreditation, formed key partnerships with automation leaders and built an impressive and diverse customer base.

 Approach

Trusted for over 20 years, Westbury has earned an excellent reputation for being a highly capable, reliable and dependable UK manufacturing and engineering company.

From its inception, the businesses core objective and strength has been to ensure that a Westbury customer can be certain that its products are built to the highest standards, whilst benefitting from lasting relationships working with a qualified and committed service led team.

Outsource the right resource

Westbury recognise that many OEM machine builders striving to respond to their client’s changing needs, may outsource to compliment their own in-house capabilities.

People

Management

Westbury has the advantage of being an independently owned and run company. As such, the board of directors are free of outside influence and have the autonomy and freedom to make self-determining management decisions.

In addition, many customers recognise and respect the fact that the business is led by its founder, managing director and namesake, Glynn Westbury.

Operations director, Paul Knott oversees the management team, which is made up of several experienced and dedicated professionals who are collectively responsible for: production, technical, sales, marketing and finance.

Production

A large proportion of the 40+ staff at Westbury are key shop floor members comprised of control panel builders, assemblers and electrical engineers.

Our production planner heads up a team which, with the help and guidance of the directors, looks after orders, purchases, pre-production, H&S, quality and HR.

Staff retention is a priority at Westbury and we are proud that we have a high number of long serving people including workers related across two generations.
