Yung Kong Galvanising Industries Bhd

YKGI Holdings Berhad (“YKGI” or “Company”) has firmly established itself as a leader in the manufacturing, trading and servicing of steel materials. The Company was incorporated in 1977 in Kuching, Sarawak under the name of Yung Kong Galvanising Industries Bhd. It was listed on the Second Board of Bursa Malaysia in 1997 and subsequently transferred to the Main Board of Bursa Malaysia in 2003. The Company changed its name to YKGI Holdings Berhad with effect from 17 May 2013.

In 1983, YKGI signed a joint venture agreement with Marubeni Corporation for the manufacture of galvanised sheets and later in 2010 established a partnership with Nippon Steel & Sumitomo Metal Corp for the supply of Hot Rolled Coils. In 2004, YKGI was awarded SMI Recognition Award Series 2004 in Category of SMI-AIA Achievers’ Award, and the following year, it won Business of the Year 2004 in Category of Excellent Company.

In the new millennium, YKGI continued to expand its horizons, by setting up manufacturing plants in Klang in West Malaysia and has since became a leading integrated flat steel sheet manufacturer in the country producing various types of steel materials including Hot Rolled Pickled and Oiled Coils, Cold Rolled Coils, Galvanized Coils and Colour Coated Coils.

The Company has its operations in Kuching, Sarawak and Klang, Selangor with the total capital investment cost of RM 480 million and a workforce of close to 500 employees. Due to the expansion, in the first quarter of 2013, YKGI commenced a new “Continuous Colour Coating Line” costing RM30 million at its Klang factory.
