Hannibal Industries Is the First to Address Impact of New Codes for Storage Rack System Designs

10 March 2020

Hannibal Industries announces it is the first company to address the impact of new codes under ASCE 7-16 regarding storage rack system designs.

The new code went into effect in January of this year and has caused most companies to scramble to find ways to comply, however Hannibal Industries has been at the forefront of the new codes since before they were implemented. Not only have the new codes been addressed to the team at Hannibal Industries, but TubeRack inventor Andrew Kirby has also configured the seismic design response spectrum and has developed a solution to reduce the design base requirements by changing the lateral force resistance system as well.

"It’s a fact of life that things change. But when it comes to building codes and standards, change can be frustrating, confusing and expensive. As it relates to seismic design and certification of racking systems, it is beneficial to understand the impact of code changes early to begin incorporating requirement changes into new racking system designs, existing system updates and in the certification process," said Kirby.

The patented TubeRack Storage System offers a stronger, smarter and safer storage rack system with a lower overall cost of ownership. For additional information on Hannibal Industries’ patented TubeRack, visit: hannibalindustries.com/rack/tuberack.
