Blanchard Grinding Services
Blanchard Grinding Services
Blanchard grinding, also known as rotary surface grinding, quickly removes stock from one side of a part. Blanchard grinding is best suited for single-sided material removal and grinding applications too large for double-disc grinding.
While ideal for large parts like mold plates, rotary tables or vacuum chambers, this type of surface grinding can also be an effective method for simultaneous grinding of multiple smaller parts.
The main benefit of Blanchard grinding, or rotary surface grinding services, is heavy stock removal rates for all magnetic or non-magnetic materials. When a substantial amount of material has to be removed quickly and efficiently, Blanchard grinding is more cost-effective than other methods because of the significantly greater horsepower used (200 hp).
A wide variety of materials can be ground using the Blanchard grinding method:
- Bronze
- Steel
- Raw metal
- Ferrous or non-ferrous
- Tool steels
- Cast iron
- Mold plate
- Copper
- Virtually any material
Blanchard Ground Parts
The Blanchard grinding machine is known for its trademark cross-hatched surface finish pattern, typically within a 63-125 RMS range, though finer finishes are available. Materials frequently ground include:
- Plate stock
- Rectangular bar stock
- Die blocks
- Forgings
- Castings
- Stampings
- Burnouts and weldments
- Molds
