AboutRoy Manufacturing

Roy Manufacturing has a highly skilled and long serving team of employees providing excellent customer service with same day quotes and delivery within 5 days from receipt of order. Roy services customers throughout North America and even in Europe with one simple philosophy: on spec and on time!

Roy Manufacturing was founded in 1958 by Roy O. Young, a young accountant for the J.J. Ross Mill Finishing Co., a seed cleaning and mill manufacturing company with a materials perforation department.

When J.J. Ross decided to close its perforation department, Roy Young purchased the department and opened the business at the same location Roy Manufacturing is located at today, in the Mississippi Neighborhood of Portland, Oregon.

In 1958, Roy Manufacturing started with one building and three perforation machines. Today, Roy operates out of four buildings with eight CNC controlled turret punch presses, ranging from 30 ton to 50 ton punching capacity.

In the early 70’s, Hank Mathews and John Clark purchased the business from Roy Young after careful vetting. Roy cared so much about a proper hand off of his business that he required Hank to work for Roy Manufacturing before approving of the sale!

In 2005, Hank sold the company to Carl Foster, founder of a well known accounting firm, and Jayant Ingle, a former technology executive from Tektronix, Inc. Jayant ran the Company as General Manager, and worked with Carl to continue growing the company in both production output and its reputation for expertise, excellent products and customer service.

In 2016, the Company was purchased by Jim and Michelle Fitzhenry and Chris Job.  Both Jim and Chris were alumni of Schmitt Industries, Inc., with long resumes that range from high tech business management to tours of duty with the U.S. Government.  Michelle has a background in investor relations and communications with a publicly traded timber company and owns another business, operating Occasions Fine Gifts for over 15 years.

Today, Chris runs the Company as General Manager, carrying on Roy’s legacy of exceptional customer service and industry-leading expertise in materials perforation production. Both Chris and Jim are committed to growing Roy Manufacturing and maintaining its reputation as a business known to “punch” above its weight!
