CHANNEL

Channel, sometimes called channel iron or bar channel, is a rolled steel iron bar featuring a “C” or “U” shape. The narrower sides, or flanges, join at right angles to a broader side, called a web, to form a channel, from which this product gets its name. The channel shape’s inside radius corners make it ideal for many uses, including structural applications and manufacturing. The C-shape gives additional strength and rigidity. Channel is used extensively for industrial maintenance, structural fabrication and transportation projects. The thickness of the web will help determine the type of jobs to which it’s best suited. When selecting a size, think about the amount of force that may be applied, the weight carried and/or the degree of tension and compression to which it will be subjected. The larger the load, the greater the thickness and flange size you’ll likely need. At Texas Iron & Metal, we offer a full range of channel product, with depths of three to fifteen inches and weights ranging from 3.5#/ft up to 50#/ft. Channel is available in a variety of web thicknesses and flange widths. We also carry bar channel in depths of ¾ inches to 2 ½ inches in various weights, widths and thicknesses. If you have any questions, our team members are happy to offer assistance. We pride ourselves on being your ally for Prime and Less-Than-Prime© products, including channel.
