AboutArcrite Engineering (pty) Ltd

Arcrite Engineering is a family-owned steel fabrication business, based in Airport Industria, Cape Town. The 30-year-old company places great store by their exceptional customer service and take pride in the good relationships they’ve built with their customers over the years.

Arcrite was started by Dennis Millar, a sheet metal worker, in 1984. From humble beginnings the business has grown into one of the foremost specialised steel fabricators in the Western Cape. With a diverse product portfolio that includes stainless and mild steel fabrications, as well as specialised machine building capabilities, Arcrite’s diverse product and service portfolio makes them a one-stop shop for all your steel-related needs.

In 1999 Dale Millar joined his father Dennis in the business. Dale’s qualifications and experience, which includes a degree in mechanical engineering, brought a new dimension to the business and saw Arcrite’s offering expand to design and draughting services, as well as product development.

Upon Dennis’s retirement Dale took up the position of managing director of Arcrite Engineering, though Dennis does occasionally still lend his experience and expertise to the company!

Today Arcrite has the capacity to handle large volumes of work, but has retained the expertise that allows them to manage more custom work on a smaller scale.

The name Arcrite subtly references a self-made entrepreneur of the Industrial Era, Sir Richard Arkwright. Arkwright is credited with inventing the spinning frame. But it was his organisational skills and its application on the factory floor that also sees him widely acknowledged as the father of the modern factory system. As such, Arcrite credits Sir Richard while hat tipping “arc” welding – all in the “rite” way.
